ASK modulation,

hi, I'm new in the group.

I got this RC/arduino plane project and I got a little bit confused on the transmitter and receiver, so sorry for the trouble guys hope you help me out.

these are my questions;

1. What type of modulation techniques could I use to transmit and receive datas that my arduino collected from the transmitter side and transferred  on the receiver side? ( even I have a question below still hoping you could tell me some)

2. I read this article http://www.electroschematics.com/9999/rc-link-ask-environment/ and I found out that ASK modulation can be used, but the range of these modules is just 150 m. I was aiming on 5 km. so if you have any Idea on how to modify it or should I make a big modification, please help me,

3. And lastly if  you have any tutorial links or if you know if how does the circuits from the above URL, please help me out.

I do not know what country you are from but each country as limits on the amount of power a transmitter can radiate in a given band.  They also specify which band can be used for what type of service. 
 
The obvious is the more power the greater the distance; however  To prevent interference with other units on the same frequency the range is limited by the amount of power allowed in a particular band for a non licensed operator.  This is generally in the milliwatts.  
 
Different types of modulation can help increase the range.  There is also using SSB Single Side Band, amateur radio operates are familiar with this.
 
To the best of my knowledge the 5K range you want will not be reliable with the allowed power unless you have a very good receiver in a low noise area. 
 
My recommendation would be get a amateur license if you want to build it or get a piece of commercial gear designed do the job.  That equipment would also be licensed.
