  3. Place a wet cloth over the caps before charging. This prevents the chance of fire get in to the battery if there is a shorting in the terminals.
  4. Do not keep any inflammable gas or liquid near the battery.
  5. The charger should be connected to the AC socket only after it is connected to the battery terminals. This prevents sparking in the terminals.
  6. Do not place any metal objects over the battery to prevent terminal shorting.
  7. Always disconnect the negative terminal first.
  8. Rock the charger clips to the terminals to remove any corroded material. If there is any corroded material, it may creates high resistance that results in terminal heating or reduce the flow of charge.

Guys I Have tried a lot of stuff to seal a cracked battery without real success i tried tar that was used those days by the manufacturers an lift truck batteries but just a short while and then it peeled off. I then tried hot glue after I cleaned it and this worked until I had to replace it after two years.

REMEMBER YOU NEVER use any alkalis near a battery! If the white salts that are called “POX” form around one of the terminals, then wash it WITH HOT WATER ONLY I know some of the manufacturers say that you must use baking soda etcetra but where did the “acid” that corroded the post from the start came from?

Yeah OUT OF A CRACK around the post. Now if you use only hot water you fill the cell with water but if you have alkalis in the water it will end up INSIDE the cell and kill the acid and you end up discarding a good battery. Those manufacturers only wanna sell batteries and put the blame on you. I had them virtually in court for telling half truths that sound correct. You do use alkali in the battery box BOTTOM for protection. The best that I could find as a terminal protector was clean it properly and use ordinary spray paint and paint the connection

    – the charger current must be 10% of the battery current .

    – and the charger voltage must be (battery volt + root 3 ) .

Exampel: if we have battery(12 Volt_ 100 Ampere)

the best charger for it :

    Charging Voltage = Battery Volt + 1.73 = 13.7 Volt

Charging current = 10% of Battery current = 10 Ampere
    ( 13,7V_10A )
