    TDA2822 is a low power stereo Op Amplifier used in Walkman players and Hearing aids. It can give 250 mW output. TDA2822 is an ideal Op amp for low output applications. It is a good choice as a preamplifier in stereo high power amplifier circuits. It has two inputs and two outputs which can deliver 250 milli watts output power. The amplifier circuit with in the IC is well set for noise free operation. Outputs can be directly coupled to the speakers through the decoupling capacitors.

      I have TDA2822 IC . I want to use it for my headphone . What changes should I need to do that it will not cross more than 100mW ? Can I use 100K each for both Line In impedance instead of VR1 and VR2 ? And What changes do I need to Limit the output watts at 100mW without any VR ?

      If you want to control the input and out put signals, use presets or select a series resistor through trial and error.Output power of IC is fixed.Only way is to control through VR or resistor

      I have an ic named TDA 2822M. Is there any difference between TDA 2822 and 2822M ?. Should i use my 2822M with your circuit?.

        TDA2822=TDA2822M

        TDA2822 packaging and TDA2822M the same, they The difference is: TDA2822M can operate from 3V to 15V, while the TDA2822 maximum operating voltage of only 8V

      hey hello evry1 here…………the circuit which is drawn above has a blunder component mistake which will increase your threshold as well as will reduce ur sound quality…….as in the circuit on ic pin no. 5 and 8 are both coupled to connected to the “GND” via 1uf capacitor which is wrong instead of using 1uf capacitor on mentioned place there should been used a 2.2uf or 4.7uf capacitor more over it will increase ur sound quality as well as it will increase bass quality………and at the last instead of using 10k linear potentiometer at input terminals there should be used a 10k log potentiometer or u can use 20k stereo log potentiometer it will help in increase of output wattage of ic….as this ic is capable of delivering 1watt on each channel………….:)

      • Dud…. I m working on building amplifier which recieves input from my phone and feeds them into a small 2″ speaker povered by 9 v battery….
        I connected the circuit but am not understanding 1 thing…
        I bought a new earphone and removed its wires..(coz such wires are not available in my area) then i stripped the insulation of left earphone.. I got tho wires inside..
        I m not understanding where to connect those wires to input of amplifier …. So please comment on how to give inputs to that amplifier…
        I mean…. I got 2 wires…. One red and one copperish colour…on breaking left earphone…. And other 2 wires… Red and coppr again… An breaking right earphone… amp circuit diagram says that red of left earphone to be given to pin 6 and red of right earphone to pin 7… What to do of remaining two copper wires??

        You are right. connect each 100uF caps to pin 5 & 8. And make the pot value 47k. And connect a 0.1uF cap and 4.7 Ohms resistor as series across the speaker positive and negative.

      If you are referring to the capacitor voltage rating, it is not critical–just make it at least 2 * battery voltage or so–so a range of 15 to 63V is good–even 100V is OK.

      • Hi Akash,
        Do you have a digital multimeter with you ?. If so Please turn the button of that DMM into continuity testing mode. And touch one probe to the nib of the earphone pin. On the same time touch the other probe to all of four wires one by one. When the buzzer beeps, that’s your left channel positive wire. Then touch the probe to center of the earphone pin. touch the other probe to the rest of the wires on by one. When buzzer beeps, that’s your right channel positive wire. Last but not least, touch the probe to the plastic side end of that earphone pin. And touch the other probe to rest of the wires. When buzzer beeps, that’s your ground wire. If your pin had 4 separated parts, then the fourth part should be a mic input.

        my TDA 2822 became too hot after an hour of using it…..so i want to know which amp is small in size but provides undistorted o\p with in voltage 3V and above… it should be ultra small and no xternal caps, resistrs etc…..

        and which is best small amp??

        No do not connect negative to 5 &8. Please connect the negative to c1′s negative side and pin 4. And you will get better result if you change c2 & c3 to 470uF.

      • Hi Anirvan,
        connect pin 6 to ground. connect mono input to pin 7. avoid C1 and connect 10uF cap ‘s positive to pin 8 and negative to pin 5. connect 10nF cap to pin 5 and connect other end of 10nF to ground. conect the speaker to pin 1 and pin 3. Avoid C2 and C3. Last but not least, connect a 10 uF cap’s positive to pin 2 and negative to ground. Feed 6 volt and connect 8 Ohm speaker. You will get 1.35W mono output.

    29. Will it work properly if the circuit builds without VR1 & VR2? Is this possible to control the volume directly by the device?
